AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING THE 1968 -69 BUDGET BY DELETING FROM THE
GENERAL FUND ESTIMATED REVENUES, THE ITEM "HOTEL
OCCUPANCY TAX - $121,000" AND REDUCING THE APPRO-
PRIATIONS OF THE GENERAL FUND UNDER GENERAL GOV-
ERNMENT - ADVERTISING, ACTIVITY 3242, BY $121,000;
ESTABLISHING THE TOURIST AND CONVENTION DEVELOP-
MENT FUND; ADOPTING THE BUDGET FOR THE TOURIST
AND CONVENTION DEVELOPMENT FUND; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT THE 1968 -69 BUDGET OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI
IS HEREBY AMENDED TO DELETE THE ITEM OF REVENUE AND APPROPRIATION FROM
"HOTEL OCCUPANCY TAX."
SECTION 2. THERE IS HEREBY ESTABLISHED A FUND, TO BE KNOWN AS
THE "TOURIST AND CONVENTION DEVELOPMENT FUND."
SECTION 3. FOR THE TOURIST AND CONVENTION DEVELOPMENT FUND, A
BUDGET IS HEREBY ADOPTED, A COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A
PART HEREOF.
SECTION 4. THE NECESSITY FOR IMMEDIATE AMENDMENT OF THE BUDGET
IN THE PARTICULARS SET OUT CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE
PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO
ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRO-
DUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL
MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY
AND NECESSITY TO EXIST, AND HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER
RULE AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRO-
DUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS
PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, THIS THE DAY OF OCTOBER, 1968.

NEWSPAPERS; $20,000, MAGAZINES; $121000, BILLBOARDS; $51000, BROCHURES;
AND $9,000 FOR RADIO, T.V. AND MINIMOVIES.
(2) PROPOSED CONTRACT WITH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR SPECIFIC CONVENTION
DEVELOPMENT SERVICES. CITY TO BE BILLED FOR SERVICES ACTUALLY PER-
FORMED.
(3) RESERVE FOR DEVELOPMENT OF SPECIAL TOURIST ATTRACTIONS WITH
ASSISTANCE AND GUIDANCE OF HOTEL AND MOTEL ASSOCIATION.

FOR THE REASONS SET FORTH IN THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE OF THE FOREGOING
ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND 114PERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR THE SUSPEN-
SION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL
BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL; I, THEREFORE,
REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDI-
NANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL.
