HomeMy WebLinkAbout09400 RES - 06/18/1969, M mvl:6 -16 -69 A RESOLUTION ADOPTING HIGHWAY COMMISSION MINUTE ORDER N0. 62270, DATED MAY 6, 1969, CONCERNING COOPERATIVE DEVELQPMENT OF THE DEFENSE ACCESS ROAD ALONG OCEAN DRIVE FROM ALA•MEDA STREET IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI TO THE NORTH GATE OF THE CORPUS CHRISTI NAVAL AIR STATION, ALL AS MORE FULLY SET FORTH IN THE SAID MINUTE ORDER; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the State Highway department has submitted a copy of Minute Order Number 62270, passed by the State Highway Commission on May 6, 1969, as follows: "WHEREAS, in Nueces County on Defense Access Road along Ocean Drive from Alameda Street in the City of Corpus Christi to the North Gate of the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station, a distance of approxi- mately 3.1 miles, agreement has been executed between the Texas Highway Department and the City of Corpus Christi for the cooperative development of the pro- posed Access Road based on the understanding that the entire cost would be reimbursed from Federal Funds; and WHEREAS, the Cayo Del Oso Bridge and approaches on Ocean Drive Defense Access Road was placed under construction in December 1968; and WHEREAS, the cost of the remaining roadway work on this Access Road is anticipated to exceed the total funds committed by the Department of Defense; and WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi has indicated its willingness to participate in the cost of this Access Road by providing the total funds required over and above the one million dollars authorized and committed by the Department of Defense. NOW, THEREFORE, the State Highway Engineer is directed to tender the following proposal to the City of Corpus Christi: Provided the City will agree to furnish that portion of the cost, in excess of $1,000,000.00, which is estimated at approximately $70,000. The Texas Highway Department will continue with the preparation of plans and specifications, con- tract the remaining work and supervise construction. Upon acceptance of this order by the appropriate officials of the City of Corpus Christi, the State Highway Engineer is directed to proceed with the development of the project and to enter into a revised agreement with the City for the proper completion of the proposed Access Road. 94®® Y This order shall become operative upon acceptance by the City of Corpus Christi and if not accepted within 90 days of the date hereof, the action herein contained shall be automatically cancelled." NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Minute Order No. 62270, passed and approved by the State Highway Commission on May 6, 1969, regarding cooperative development of the defense access road along Ocean Drive from Alameda Street in the City of Corpus Christi to the North Gate of the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station, be, and the same is hereby adopted by the City of Corpus Christi, Texas.
