HomeMy WebLinkAbout09421 RES - 07/07/1969R E S O L U T I O N STATE OF TEXAS X COUNTY OF NUECES X WHEREAS, RIO AIRWAYS, INC., has filed an application with the TEXAS AERONAUTICS COMMISSION, Austin, Texas, for an intrastate air carrier certificate of convenience and necessity authorizing it to engage in air transportation: 1. Between the terminal point Brownsville, the intermediate points McAllen and Corpus Christi, and (a) beyond Corpus Christi, the terminal point Houston, and (b) beyond Corpus Christi, the intermediate point San Antonio and the terminal paint Austin. 2. Between the terminal point Laredo, the intermediate point Corpus Christi, and (a) beyond Corpus Christi, the terminal point Houston, and (b) beyond Corpus Christi, the intermediate point San Antonio and the terminal point Austin, and (c) beyond Corpus Christi the terminal point Brownsville; and WHEREAS, a hearing will be held on said application on or about July 7, 1969; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi is of the opinion that the granting of the certificate requested would be of benefit to the citizens and business community of Corpus Christi and to many persons in the area and elsewhere who have a need for such service; and, WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that the public con- venience and necessity would be served by the granting of such application, with a schedule flexibility which will be more able to meet the market needs in the area covered under this application. RIO AIRWAYS, INC., could then supplement the airline service which is now offered between Corpus Christi and other cities named in the application. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council that it go on record in favor of said application made by RIO AIRWAYS, INC., and it hereby requests the Texas Aeronautics Commission to grant Rio Airways, Inc. a certificate of 9421L public convenience and necessity to provide the service so C"Ych application. ATTEST: Ci/y Secrbtdry f // APPROVED: 7TH DAY OF JULY, 1969: City Attorney THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS Corpus Christi as day of 19u TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL Corpus Christi, Texas For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen- sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass.this ordi- nance finally on the date it is introduced, -or at the present meeting of the City Council.
