AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER, FOR AND
ON BEHALF OF THE•CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TO EXECUTE
AN AGREEMENT WITH THE TEXAS HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT WHERE -
BY THE STATE OF TEXAS AGREES TO PERMIT THE USE BY THE
CITY OF THE PARKING AREA NEAR THE COURTHOUSE DESCRIBED
'AS BORDERED ON THE EAST BY WATER STREET,-ON THE WEST BY �zt

TO AND MADE A PART HEREOF; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT THE CITY MANAGER BE, AND HE IS HEREBY, AUTHORIZED
AND DIRECTED TO EXECUTE, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
AN AGREEMENT WITH THE TEXAS HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT WHEREBY THE STATE OF TEXAS
AGREES TO PERMIT THE USE BY THE CITY OF THE PARKING AREA NEAR THE COURT-
HOUSE DESCRIBED AS BORDERED ON THE EAST BY WATER STREET, ON THE WEST BY
CHAPARRAL STREET AND ON THE NORTH AND SOUTH BY THE FRONTAGE ROADS TO THE
BUSINESS ROUTE OF HIGHWAY #9 FREEWAY, SITUATED IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS, FOR USE AS A HELICOPTER LANDING AREA, ALL AS MORE
FULLY SET FORTH IN THE AGREEMENT, A COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO AND
MADE A PART HEREOF.
SECTION 2. THE NECESSITY TO IMMEDIATELY ENTER INTO THE AFORE-
SAID AGREEMENT IN ORDER TO PERMIT ITHE USE OF THE HEREINABOVE DESCRIBED
AREA AS A HELICOPTER LANDING AREA CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE
PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDI-
NANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON`THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION
AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEET-
INGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND
j NECESSITY TO EXIST, AND HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF ITS INTRODUC-
TION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS

AMENDMENT OF SUPPLEMENTAL AGREEMENT
For Parking Facility Within Freeway Right of Way
STATE OF TEXAS
COUNTY OF NUECES
This Agreement made this day of , 1969, by and betwedn
Lthe State of Texas, hereinafter called the "State" and the City of Corpus Christi,
Nueces County, Texas, hereinafter called the "City." }
WHEREAS, the State and the City entered into an agreement on the 18th day of
December, 1957, pertaining to parking, said agreement entitled "Supplemental
Agreement for Parking Facility Within Right of Way" with map and layout sheets
attached thereto and describing location and area of said parking facility; and
WHEREAS, the said "Supplemental Agreement" provided for the parking of certain
motor cars and trucks no larger than 1 1/2 ton capacity; and
WHEREAS, the City would like to make temporary use of a certain area of the
parking facility for the parking, landing and take -off of helicopters; and
WHEREAS, the State has no objection to such use of the area bordered on the
East by Water Street, on the West by Chaparral Street and on the North and South
by the frontage roads to the business route of Highway X69 Freeway, under the con -,
ditions set out in the contractual agreement dated December 18, 1957, and more
specifically identified above.
NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the premises aforesaid and the mutual
benefit therefrom, it is AGREED between the parties hereto that the original
agreement dated December 18, 1957, and entitled "Supplemental Agreement For

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore,
request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass.this ordi-
nance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.
