A RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi is most fortunate to be the home of one
of the world's largest Naval Air Stations, the headquarters of Naval Air Advanced
Training, and the headquarters of the Army Aeronautical Depot Maintenance Center
(ARADMAC), concerning which crimes and particularly crimes of violence have been
practically non - existent; and
WHEREAS, other military establishments have experienced crimes of violence,
Corpus Christi families have suffered the tragedy of such violence, a recent example
being the wanton and brutal murder of a Corpus Christi 21 -year old soldier, Lon Schlosser,
at Fort Hood; and
WHEREAS, House Resolution 0514 of the 91st Congress, 1st Session, has been
introduced by Congressman Biaggi of New York, seeking a full and complete investi-
gation of crime and disorder on-all United States military installations, at home or
abroad, which Resolution has been referred to the Rules Committee of which our able
Representative for the 14th District of Texas, Congressman Young, is a member; and
a similar Resolution has been introduced by State Representative.Joe Salem as H.S.R. 50;
these Resolutions should be supported:`
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED -that the City Council of Corpus Christi go
on record in support_ of these Resolutions,' and that copies of this Resolution in support be

sent to Congressman Biaggi, Congressman Young, -State Senator,Bridges and State Repre-
sentative Joe Salem.

TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore,
request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordi-
nance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.
