AN ORDINANCE
1
AMENDING SECTION 21 -156 OF THE CORPUS CHRISTI CITY'
CODE, 1958, AS AMENDED, BY DELETING FROM SCHEDULE IV
OF SAID SECTION 21 -156 EXISTING PROVISIONS FOR PEAK
HOUR PARKING ON BOTH SIDES OF BROWNLEE BOULEVARD,
BETWEEN AGNES AND STAPLES STREETS, AND IN LIEU THEREOF
ADOPTING THE FOLLOWING PROVISIONS: PARKING PROHIBITED
ON THE EAST SIDE OF BROWNLEE BOULEVARD BETWEEN STAPLES
STREET AND MORGAN STREET BETWEEN 7:00 A.M. AND 9:00 A.M.,
AND ON THE WEST SIDE OF BROWNLEE BOULEVARD BETWEEN MORGAN
STREET AND STAPLES STREET BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 11:00 P.M.
AND 6:00 P.M.; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT SECTION 21 -156 OF THE CORPUS CHRISTI CITY
CODE, 1958, AS AMENDED, BE AND THC SAME IS HEREBY AMENDED, BY DELETING
THEREFROM, UNDER SCHEDULE IV, EXISTING PROVISIONS PROHIBITING PEAK HOUR

STAPLES STREET 11:00 P.M. To 6:00 P.M.
SECTION 2. PUBLICATION SHALL BE MADE ONE T114E IN THE OFFICIAL
PUBLICATION OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, BY PUBLISHING THE CAPTION
STATING IN SUBSTANCE THE PURPOSE OF THE ORDINANCE.
SECTION 3. THE NECESSITY TO MAINTAIN AT ALL TIMES A COMPREHEN-
SIVE TRAFFIC ORDINA14CL FOR THE CITY OF' CORPUS CHRISTI CREATES A PUBLIC
EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF
THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY
ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE Oft RESOLUTION
SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR
HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY TO EXIST, AND FIAV114G REQUESTED
THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE SE PASSED

FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL
FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE AND PUBLICATION, IT IS
ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, THIS THI-5-46 DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1969.

TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore,
request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordi-
nance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.
