TION OF UNIT V, SIDEWALKS FOR SCHOOLS, PROJECT NO.
22o- 67 -93; APPROPRIATING OUT OF NO. 220 STREET BOND
FUND THE SUM OF $54,00o.00, OF WHICH AMOUNT g1+7,533.20
IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $6,466.80 IS FOR
CONTINGENCIES AND INCIDENTAL EXPENSES; AND DECLARING AN

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT THE CITY MANAGER BE, AND HE IS HEREBY AUTHORIZED
AND DIRECTED TO EXECUTE, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
A CONTRACT WITH FOWCO CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, FOR CONSTRUCTION OF UNIT V,
SIDEWALKS FOR SCHOOLS, PROJECT No. 220 - 67-93, SAID CONSTRUCTION TO CONSIST
OF INSTALLATION OF 65,000 S.F. OF CONCRETE SIDEWALKS AND APPURTENANCES
ALONG THE FOLLOWING STREETS:
(1) ALAMEDA STREET, FROM HANCOCK TO AGNES;
(2) 13ROWNLEE BOULEVARD, BUFORD TO AGNES;
CHICO, HOWARD TO COMANCHE;
HOWARD, CHICO TO 19TH;
(5) CLARK, NORTON TO 150 FEET EAST;
(6) NORTON, NAPLES TO RAMSEY;
7h NAPLES, SHELY TO NORTON;

CONSTRUCTION COMPANY BEING THE LOWEST AND MOST ADVANTAGEOUS TO THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS.
SECTION 2. THERE IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED OUT OF N0. 220 STREET
BOND FUND THE SUM OF $54,000.00, OF WHICH AMOUNT $47,533.20 IS FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $6,1+66.80 IS FOR CONTINGENCIES AND INCIDENTAL
EXPENSES.

SECTION 3. THE NECESSITY TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE SIDEWALKS IN THE
VICINITY OF THE SCHOOLS IN ORDER TO PROVIDE BETTER ACCESS TO THE SCHOOLS
CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING
THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL
BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE
OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY TO EXIST, AND
HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS ORDI-
NANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore,
request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass.this ordi-
nance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the presene meeting of the
City Council.

This project shall be known as Sidewalk Improvements Unit V, and it consists _
of the construction of concrete and shell sidewalks within the City. These
walks are proposed to be a minimlim of 4' wide, 4" thick, and where necessary,
5' wide, 4" thick. The locations of the proposed improvements are as follows: '
(1) Alameda Street, from Hancock to Agnes
(2) Brovniee Boulevard, Buford to Agnes
(3) .Chico, Howard to Commanche
(4) Howard, Chico to 19th
(5) Clark, Norton to 150' east
(65 Norton, Naples to Ramsey
(7) Norton - -
(8) MCArdle Road, Rodd Field to Nile Drive.
(9) Ruth, 22nd to 25th ,
(10)-..Santa Fe, Craig to Morgan
(11) Weil Place
(12) ' McArdle Road, Nesbitt to Johnston
13) Shirley Drive
(14) Karen Drive
(15) John Jones Park
The assessment rates have been determined by using the unit bid price on 4'
wide or on 5' wider 4" thick, reinforced concrete sidewalk, and applying
this bid price to the front footage of the abutting property. The rates are
- as follows:
(1) 4' wide, 4" thick, reinforced concrete sidewalk 2.20
(2) 5' wide, 4" thick, reinforced concrete sidewalkp2.75
Credits have been issued for existing sidewalks in suitable condition.
Total Contract Price ,$47,533.20
Total Assessment 22,480.
Total Cost to the City 5,052•
