Box 1622 Corpus Christi, Texas 78403 ` Re: Engineering for Padre Island Drive Relocation of 48" Water Line Dear Mr. Lontos: The Texas Highway Department has advised that in order for the State to participate in the cost of Engineering for the Relocation of the 4811 water line crossing Padre Island Drive (State Highway 358) an Engineering Contract with the City would need to be approved. The fee for this contract to be on a lump sum, cost plus a fixed fee, or per diem basis. For simplicity we suggest a lump sum basis and offer the following proposal: We propose to render engineering services in connection with the relocation of the 48" water line which crosses Padre Island Drive approxi- mately 3, 000 feet south of Highway 44. These services to consist of the preparation of preliminary plans, final design plans, and supplementary specifications as required to incorporate this construction work into the contract for the Leopard Street water line. We will consult with both the City and the Highway Department in the preparation of the plans and speci- fications so as to reach agreement on the proposed construction including the relocated water line, the removal of the existing water line and structures, cutting and replacing pavement, and excavation and backfill requirements. If requested by the City, we will also render general super- vision during th'e construction stage. Our fee for these engineering services would be the lump sum of $3, 000 payable upon submission and acceptance of the plans and specificati, i Page 2 Mr. James K.
