AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING THE CORPUS CHRISTI CITY CODE, 1958, AS AMENDED,
BY ADDING THERETO ITEM 111 UNDER SECTION 21 -155, SO AS TO
PROHIBIT PARKING ON THE NORTHWEST SIDE OF EVERHART ROAD,
BETWEEN PADRE ISLAND DRIVE AND HOLLY ROAD; AMENDING THE
SECTSECTION 156, CITY SO CODE, TO HEREAFTERAPROHIBITBTHEMSTOPPING,
STANDING OR PARKING OF VEHICLES ON SOUTH ALAMEDA STREET,
BETWEEN BUFORD AND CRAIG, EAST SIDE, BETWEEN THE HOURS
OF 8:00 A.M. AND 11:00 P.M., ON SCHOOL DAYS ONLY; PROVIDING
FOR PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT THE CORPUS CHRISTI CITY CODE, 1558, AS AMENDED,
BE, AND THE SAME IS HEREBY, AMENDED BY AMENDING SECTION 21 -1551 BY ADDING
THERETO AN ITEM, NUMBERED lit, READING AS FOLLOWS:
"111. EVERHART ROAD, NORTHWEST SIDE, BETWEEN
PADRE ISLAND DRIVE AND HOLLY ROAD."
SECTION 2. THAT THE CORPUS CHRISTI CITY CODE, 1958, AS AMENDED,
BE, AND THE SAME IS HEREBY, AMENDED BY ADDING THERETO THE FOLLOWING:
"NAME OF STREET HOURS STOPPING, STANDING
OR PARKING PROHIBITED
SOUTH ALAMEDA STREET,
BETWEEN BUFORD AND CRAIG, BETWEEN THE HOURS OF
EAST SIDE ONLY 8 :00 A.M. AND 11:00 P.M.,
ON SCHOOL DAYS ONLY."
SECTION 3. PUBLICATION SHALL BE MADE ONE TIME IN THE OFFICIAL
PUBLICATION OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, BY PUBLISHING THE CAPTION STAT-
ING IN SUBSTANCE THE PURPOSE OF THE ORDINANCE.
SECTION 4. THE NECESSITY FOR IMMEDIATE ADOPTION OF THE PROVI-
SIONS HEREINABOVE SET FORTH IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN AT ALL TIMES A COMPRE-
HENSIVE TRAFFIC ORDINANCE FOR THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI CREATES A PUBLIC
EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF
THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY
ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION
SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE
MAYOR HAVING DECLARED THAT SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY EXIST, HAVING
REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF SAID CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE
PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN
FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE AND PUBLICATION, IT IS
ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, THIS THE __LOTH DAY OF DECEMBER, 1969.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore,
request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordi-
nance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.
