BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. THAT SECTION 21 -68 OF THE CORPUS CHRISTI CITY CODE, 1958, AS AMENDED, BE, AND THE SAME IS HEREBY, AMENDED BY ADOPTING THE FOLLOWING SPEED LIMITS ON OCEAN DRIVE: NAME OF STREET SPEED LIMIT OCEAN DRIVE: FROM THE SOUTH CURB LINE OF CRAIG TO THE SOUTH CURB LINE OF THE EAST BOUND LANE OF LOUISIANA FROM THE SOUTH CURB LINE OF THE EAST BOUND LANE OF LOUISIANA TO A POINT 1400 FEET SOUTH OF ROSSITER ST. EFFECTIVE TIMES 35 MILES PER HOUR AT ALL TIMES 40 MILES PER HOUR AT ALL TIMES SECTION 2. PUBLICATION SHALL BE MADE ONE TIME IN THE OFFICIAL PUBLICATION OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, WHICH PUBLICATION SHALL CONTAIN THE CAPTION STATING IN SUBSTANCE THE PURPOSE OF THE ORDINANCE. SECTION 3. THE NECESSITY TO MAINTAIN A COMPREHENSIVE TRAFFIC ORDINANCE FOR THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI IN ORDER TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC SAFETY, HEALTH AND WELFARE OF THE PUBLIC CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY TO EXIST, HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE SE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE AND PUBLICATION, IT IS ACCORDINGLY S0 ORDAINED THIS THE DAY OF JANUARY, 1970.
