AN O O I NANCE
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 9499, GENERALLY REFERRED TO
AS "THE ELECTRICAL LICENSING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI ", PASSED ON SEPTEMBER 24, 1969,
SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF TWO (2)
PERSONS, CITIZENS OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TO
SERVE FOR THE BALANCE OF THE CALENDAR YEAR 1970;
REPEALING ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; PROVIDING
A SAVINGS CLAUSE; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT ORDINANCE No. 9499, GENERALLY REFERRED TO AS
"THE ELECTRICAL LICENSING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI ",
PASSED ON SEPTEMBER 21, 1969, BE AND THE SAME IS HEREBY, AMENDED BY
AMENDING SECTION 1-2: QUALIFICATIONS: BY ADDING PARAGRAPH (F) READING
AS FOLLOWS:
"(F) Two PERSONS, CITIZENS OF CORPUS CHRISTI."
SECTION 2. THAT SECTION 1 -3 OF THE AFORESAID ORDINANCE No. 9499
BE AMENDED BY ADDING THE FOLLOWING SENTENCE:
"Two (2) BOARD MEMBERS PROVIDED IN (F) OF SECTION 1-2 SHALL,
IN ADDITION TO THE PREVIOUS PORTION OF THIS SECTION, BE APPOINTED FOR THE
BALANCE OF THE CALENDAR YEAR 1970."
SECTION 3. THAT ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
HEREWITH ARE HEREWITH EXPRESSLY REPEALED.
SECTION 4. IF FOR ANY REASON, ANY SECTION, PARAGRAPH, SUBDIVISION,
CLAUSE, PHRASE, OR PROVISION OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE HELD INVALID, IT
SHALL NOT AFFECT ANY VALID PROVISIONS OF THIS OR ANY OTHER ORDINANCE OR
CODE OF THIS CITY TO WHICH THESE RULES AND REGULATIONS RELATE.
SECTION 5. PUBLICATION SHALL BE MADE ONE TIME IN THE OFFICIAL
PUBLICATION OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, WHICH PUBLICATION SHALL CONTAIN
THE CAPTION STATING IN SUBSTANCE THE PURPOSE OF THE ORDINANCE.
SECTION 6. THE NECESSITY TO ADOPT THE HEREINABOVE DESCRIBED
PROVISIONS AT THE EARLIEST PRACTICABLE DATE CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND

AN IMPERATIVEPUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE
THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF
ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT
THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED
THAT SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY EXIST, AND HAVING REQUESTED THAT SUCH
CHARTER RULE BE SUSPENDED, AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON
THE DATE OF ITS' INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND
EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE AND PUBLICATION, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO
ORDAINED, THIS THE /°rtd-.) DAY OF JANUARY, 1970.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore,
request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordi-
nance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.
