AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER, FOR AND
ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TO EXECUTE
A CONTRACT 1,41TH KING CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR CONSTRUC-
TION OF THE LiOLINA AREA NEIGHBORHOOD STREET IMPROVE-
MENTS; APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF $900,000, OF WHICH
$718,155 IS OUT OF NO. 220 STREET BOND FUND, $688,151.50
BEING FOR THE CONSTRUCTIOY CONTRACT, AND $30,003.50
BEING FOR CONTINGENCIES, ALL APPLICABLE TO PROJECT
NO. 220 -67 -92.3; AND THE SUM OF $181,845 BEING OUT
OF NO. 295 STORM SEWER BOND FUND, $172,345 OF WHICH
IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT, AND $9500 IS FOR
CONTINGENCIES, ALL APPLICABLE 10 PROJECT NO. 295 -67 -47.1;
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT THE CITY MANAGER BE, AND HE IS HEREBY, AUTHORIZED
AND DIRECTED, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TO EXECUTE
A CONTRACT WITH KING CONSTRUCTION COMPANf FOR CONSTRUCTION OF MOLINA AREA
NEIGHBORHOOD STREET IMPROVEMENTS, SAID CONSTRUCTION TO CONSIST OF EXCAVA-
TIONS, BASE WORK, HOT -MIX ASPHALTIC CONCRETE SURFACE, CURBS, GUTTERS,
S ;DEW.LKS, STORM SEWERS, AND PAVLMENT WIDTHS OF 28 FEET AND 41 FEET,
SAID CONSTRUCTION TO BE ON AND ALONG THE FOLLOWING STREETS: ELVIRA,
JOSE, RAMONA, VALDEZ, AND YOLANDA, FROM WEST POINT TO BLOOMINGTON; WEST
POINT, FROM BUSH TO COLUMBIA; VILLAREAL, FROM ELVIRA TO COLUMBIA;

ACCORDING TO THE BID OF KING CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, OPENED ON THE 28TH

STRUCTION CONTRACT, AND $9,500 IS FOR CONTINGENCIES, ALL APPLICABLE TO

SECTION 3. THE NECESSITY TO PROVIDE STREET AND DRAINAGE IMPROVE-
MENTS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND H.U.D., IN ORDER
TO INSURE ADEQUATE IMPROVEMENTS IN THE AREA HEREINA50VE SET OUT CREATES
A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUS-
PENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE
PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE
OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL,
AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY TO EXIST, AND
HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE,AND THAT THIS ORDI-
NANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT
AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT IS
ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, THIS THE_DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1970-

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore,
request that you suspend gaid Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordi-
nance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.
