AMENDING ITEM 67, SECTION 1, OF ORDINANCE NO. 9624,
BY THE DELETION OF SAID ITEM 67 1O THE EFFECT THAT
APPENDIX B, PARAGRAPH B -8, AS PROVIDED IN THE SOUTHERN
STANDARD PLUMBING CODE, IS HEREBY ADOPTED; PROVIDING
FOR PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT ORDINANCE No. 9624, PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL ON JANUARY 28, 1970, ADOPTING THE SOUTHERN STANDARD PLUMBING
CODE, 1967 EDITION AND THE 1968 REVISION THERETO, WITH CERTAIN CHANGES
AND ADDITIONS THERETO, BE, AND THE SAME 1S HEREBY, AMENDED BY DELETING
ITEM 67 OF SECTION 1, OF SAID ORDINANCE NO. 9624, TO THE EFFECT THAT
PARAGRAPH (G) OF PARAGRAPH 5■8 OF APPENDIX B, SOUTHCRN STANDARD PLUMBING
CODE, 1967 EDITION, BE, AND THE SAME IS HERESY, ADOPTED, A COPY OF SAID
SOUTHERN STANDARD PLUMBING CODE, 1967 EDITION, AUTHENTICATED BY THE
SIGNATURES OF THE MAYOR AND THE CITY SECRETARY, AND MADE A PUBLIC
RECORD BY ORDINANCE No. 9624, IS FILEDIN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY SECRETARY.
SECTION 2. PUBLICATION SHALL BE MADE ONE TIME IN THE OFFICIAL
PUBLICATION OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, WHICH PUBLICATION SHALL CONTAIN
THE CAPTION STATING IN SUBSTANCE THE PURPOSE OF THE ORDINANCE.
SECTION 3. THE NECESSITY TO MAKE THE HEREINABOVE DESCRIBED
AMENDMENT AT THE EARLIEST PRACTICABLE DATE CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY
AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER
RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE
OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT
THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED
THAT SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY EXIST, AND HAVING REQUESTED THAT SUCH
CHARTER RULE BE SUSPENDED AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE
DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT
FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE AND PUBLICATION, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED,

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the data it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; 1, therefore,
request that you suspend paid Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordi-
nance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.
