AN ORDINANCE

AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE
A CONTRACT WITH BRASELTON CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR
EXPOSITION BALL ROOF REPAIRS; APPROPRIATING AND REAP -
PROPRIATING OUT OF NO. 102 GENERAL FUND CURRENTLY
BUDGETED IN ACTIVITY 4161, CODE 502, $6,999.00 FOR
SAID CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby authorized
and directed, for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi, to execute
a contract with Braselton Construction Company for Exposition Hall Roof
Repairs, said construction to consist of repair of two areas of the roof,
including the removing and replacing of a portion of the roof over one
column and the adding of a bearing plate to another column and all other
work necessary to complete the project, all as is more fully set forth in
the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office
of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference,
and according to the bid of Braselton Construction Company, opened on June
24, 1970, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of
Corpus Christi.
SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated and reappropriated out
of No. 102 General Fund currently budgeted in Activity 4161, Code 502,
$6,999.00 for said construction contract.
SECTION 3. The necessity to provide repairs to Exposition Hall
Roof as soon as possible creates a public emergency and an imperative public
necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that
such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the
City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to
exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this
ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect
and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY
SO ORDAINED, this the f day of July, 1970.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore,
request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordi-
nance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.
