HomeMy WebLinkAbout09877 ORD - 07/29/1970B.Iw:7/29/70 , • AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 91165 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE SALARY OF THE PRESIDING JUDGE OF MUNICIPAL COURT NO. 1 SHALL HENCEFORTH BE $14,220 PER ANNUM, AND THAT THE SALARY OF THE PRESIDING JUDGE OF MUNICIPAL COURT NO. 2 SHALL HENCEFORTH BE $11,530 PER ANNUM; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. THAT ORDINANCE No. 91165 BE, AND THE SAME IS HEREBY, AMENDED SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE SALARY OF THE PRESIDING JUDGE OF MUNICIPAL COURT NO. 1 SHALL HENCEFORTH BE $111,220 PER ANNUM, AND THAT THE SALARY OF THE PRESIDING JUDGE OF MUNICIPAL COURT NO. 2 SHALL HENCEFORTH BE $11,530 PER ANNUM, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THE CITY BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING AUGUST 1, 1970. SECTION 2. THAT THE NECESSITY TO AMEND THE ABOVE NUMBERED ORDI- NANCE IN ORDER TO FIX THE SALARIES OF THE PRESIDING JUDGES OF MUNICIPAL COURTS NO. 1 AND No. 2 IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CITY BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING AUGUST 1, 1970, CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDI- NANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY TO EXIST, HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF SAID CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, THIS THE 29TH DAY OF JULY, 1970. ATTEST: �A MA THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS '9877 • TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL Corpus Christi, Texas • corpus Chris t xas day of 19,2D For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen- sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordi- nance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
