AN ORDINANCE
GIVING NOTICE AND ORDERING PUBLICATION OF SAID NOTICE,
PURSUANT TO ARTICLE 1269L -3, V.A.C.S., TEXAS, URBAN
RENEWAL LAW, ,46 AMENDED, OF CONSIDERATION BY THE CITY
COUNCIL ON AK2A.Aw , 1970, BEING NOT LESS
THAN 60 DAYS AFTER THE FIRST OF TWO PUBLICATIONS OF 9 _ -767
NOTICE HEREOF IN THE CITY'S OFFICIAL NEWSPAPER, OF
PASSAGE OF AN ORDINANCE TO CALL AN ELECTION, AFTER
30 DAYS' NOTICE, BY RESIDENT QUALIFIED VOTERS OWNING
TAXABLE PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY, TO DETERMINE WHETHER
THE CITY COUNCIL SHALL ADOPT A RESOLUTION FINDING THAT
ONE OR MORE SLUM OR BLIGHTED AREAS EXIST IN THE CITY
AND THE REHABILITATION, CONSERVATION, OR SLUM CLEARANCE
AND REDEVELOPMENT, OR COMBINATION THEREOF, OF SUCH AREA
OR AREAS IS NECESSARY IN THE INTEREST OF PUBLIC HEALTH,
SAFETY, MORALS OR WELFARE OF THE RESIDENTS OF THE CITY;
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT IT IS HEREBY ORDERED THAT NOTICE BE GIVEN
AND PUBLICATION BE MADE, PURSUANT TO ARTICLE 1269L -3, V.A.C.S., TEXAS,
URBAN RENEWAL LAW, AS AMENDED, THAT THERE SHALL BE CONSIDERED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL, ON / 5, : A / , 1970, SAID DATE BEING NOT

LESS THAN 60 DAYS AFTER THE FIRST OF TWO PUBLICATIONS OF NOTICE HEREOF
IN THE CITY'S OFFICIAL NEWSPAPER, OF PASSAGE OF AN ORDINANCE TO CALL
AN ELECTION, AFTER 30 DAYS' NOTICE, BY RESIDENT QUALIFIED VOTERS OWNING
TAXABLE PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY, TO DETERMINE WHETHER THE CITY COUNCIL

NOTICE AND ORDER PUBLICATION OF SAME AT THE EARLIEST POSSIBLE DATE,
SO THAT THE NECESSARY LEGAL REQUIREMENTS WILL BE SATISFIED, CREATES A
PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE
SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL
BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION ARO THAT SUCH ORDINANCE

OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL,
AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY TO EXIST,
AND HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS
ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE
EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore,
request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordi-
nance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.
