HomeMy WebLinkAbout09986 ORD - 11/11/1970AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH ZIP TUBE OF SAN ANTONIO FOR THE INSTAL- LATION OF A PNEUMATIC TUBE SYSTEM FOR THE POLICE BUILD- ING; APPROPRIATING AND REAPPROPRIATING $7449 FOR THE AFORESAID INSTALLATION, PROJECT NO. 207- 64 -113 OF WHICH SUM $211.29 IS OUT OF THE NO. 207 PUBLIC BUILDING BOND FUND AND $7,237.71 PROVIDED IN THE 1970 -71 BUDGET FOR ACTIVITY 3327, CODE 502; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS QiRISTI, TEXAS. SECTION 1. That the City Manager:be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to execute, for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi, a contract with Zip Tube of San Antonio for the installation of a pneumatic message conveying system for the Police Building, all as more fully set forth in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference, and according to the bid of Zip Tube of San Antonio, opened on the 4th day of November, 1970, the said bid of Zip Tube of San Antonio being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas. SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated and reappropriated the at= of $7449 for the aforesaid installation of pneumatic tube system, Project No. 207- 64 -11, of which amount $211.29 is out of the No. 207 Public Building Bond Fund and.$7,237.71.provided in the 1970 -71 Budget for Activity 3327, Code 502. SECTION 3. The necessity to provide a pneumatic message conveying system for the Police Building as provided by the electorate, and in order to provide a more efficient operation for the personnel in the Police Building, creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity•to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally 99se a on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the day of�L —� e/�%, 1970.
