HomeMy WebLinkAbout10064 ORD - 01/06/1971AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH EPPERSON CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR HURRICANE DAMAGE REPAIRS TO THE WEST GUTH PARK MAINTENANCE BUILDING, JOB NO. 4298 -74; APPROPRIATING OUT OF THE NO. 102 GENERAL FUND, ACTIVITY NO. 4298, THE SUM OF $4,175.99 FOR PAYMENT OF THE CONSTRUCTION COSTS FOR THE AFORESAID REPAIRS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. 1 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. THAT THE CITY MANAGER BE, AND HE IS HEREBY, AUTHORIZED AND DIRECTED TO EXECUTE, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, A CONTRACT WITH EPPERSON CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR HURRICANE CELIA DAMAGE REPAIRS TO THE WEST GUTH PARK MAINTENANCE BUILDING, IN WEST GUTH PARK, JOB NO. 4298 -74, SAID CONSTRUCTION TO CONSIST OF REPAIRS TO METAL BUILDING, INCLUDING THE NECESSARY PLUMBING AND ELECTRICAL REPAIRS, ALL AS MORE FULLY SET OUT IN THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND CONTRACT DOCUMENTS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY SECRETARY, ALL OF WHICH ARE MADE A PART HEREOF BY REFERENCE, AND ACCORDING TO THE BID OF EPPERSON CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, OPENED ON THE 30TH DAY OF DECEMBER, 1970, THE SAID BID OF EPPERSON CONSTRUCTION COMPANY BEING THE LOWEST AND MOST ADVANTAGEOUS TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS. SECTION 2. THERE IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED THE SUM OF $4,175.99 OUT OF N0. 102 GENERAL FUND, ACTIVITY N0. 4298, FOR THE AFORESAID CONSTRUC- TION COSTS. SECTION 3. THE NECESSITY TO MAKE REPAIRS TO THE MAINTENANCE BUILDING AT WEST GUTH PARK AT THE EARLIEST PRACTICABLE DATE CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY TO EXIST, AND HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF 10004 ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, THIS TMEny (41Ci DAY OF JANUARY, 1971.
