HomeMy WebLinkAbout10080 ORD - 01/20/19711- 41- 11 ;WVL AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH MARITIME CONSTRUCTORS, INC., FOR HUR- RICANE CELIA DAMAGE REPAIRS TO PILINGS AND PIERS AT CORPUS CHRISTI MARINA; APPROPRIATING OUT OF NO. 102 GENERAL FUND, ACTIVITY 4298, THE SUM OF $8,203, APPLI- CABLE TO JOB NO. 102 - 4298 -171; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF C09PUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to execute, for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi, a contract with Maritime Constructors, Inc., for Hurricane Celia damage repairs to pilings and piers at the Corpus Christi Marina, said repairs to involve providing of all materials, labor and equipment for the said repair of piers and pilings at the Corpus Christi Marina, all as more fully set forth in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference, and accord- ing to the bid of Maritime Constructors, Inc., opened on the 13th day of January, 1971, the said bid of Maritime Constructors, Inc., being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas. SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated out of the No. 102 General Fund, Activity 4298, the sum of $8,203 for the aforesaid repairs, applicable to job No. 102 - 4298 -171. SECTION 3. The necessity to repair damages to the pilings and piers at the Corpus Christi Marina, damaged by Hurricane Celia, creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and a e its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the _10& day of Q" , 1971.
