HomeMy WebLinkAbout10112 ORD - 02/17/1971VMP:2/15/71 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH SURF -TEX CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR THE CONSTRUC- TION OF PARKING LOT IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE CITY SWIM- MING POOL AND THE POLICE STATION; APPROPRIATING AND RE- APPROPRIATING OUT OF THE NO. 102 GENERAL FUND, ACTIVITY 3327, CODE 502, THE SUM OF $27,500, OF WHICH $24 656.15 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $2,$43.85 IS FOR CONTINGENCIES; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. THAT THE CITY MANAGER BE, AND HE IS HEREBY, AUTHORIZED AND DIRECTED TO EXECUTE, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, A CONTRACT WITH SURF -TEX CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF PARKING LOT IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE CITY SWIMMING POOL AND THE POLICE STATION, SAID WORK TO INCLUDE EXCAVATIONS, BASE WORK, CURB AND GUTTER, P.V.C. CONDUIT, SIDEWALK, DRIVEWAYS, AND HOT -MIX ASPHALTIC CONCRETE SURFACE, ALL AS MORE FULLY SET FORTH IN THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND CONTRACT DOCUMENTS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY SECRETARY, ALL OF WHICH ARE MADE A PART HEREOF BY REFERENCE, AND ACCORDING TO THE BLD OF SURF -TEX CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, OPENED ON THE 3RD DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1971, THE SAID BID OF SURF -TEX CONSTRUCTION COMPANY BEING THE LOWEST AND MOST ADVANTAGEOUS TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS. SECTION 2. THERE IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED AND RE- APPROPRIATED OUT OF THE NO. 102 GENERAL FUND, ACTIVITY 3327, CODE 502, THE SUM OF $27,500, OF WHICH $24,656.15 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $2,843.85 IS FOR CONTINGENCIES. SECTION 3. THE NECESSITY TO PROVIDE FOR PARKING LOT IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE CITY SWIMMING POOL AND THE POLICE STATION CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE I OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY TO EXIST, AND HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF 10112 ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, THIS THE // y I- -OAY OF FEBRUARY, 1971.
