AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH
ASTRID CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, INC. FOR HURRICANE CELIA
DAMAGE REPAIRS TO CORPUS CHRISTI MUSEUM BUILDING; APPRO-
PRIATING OUT OF THE NO. 102 GENERAL FUND, ACTIVITY 44298,
THE SUM OF $6,018.63 FOR SAID REPAIRS APPLICABLE TO JOB
102 - 44298 -86; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT THE CITY MANAGER BE, AND HE IS HEREBY, AUTHORIZED
AND DIRECTED TO EXECUTE, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
A CONTRACT WITH ASTRO CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, INC. FOR HURRICANE CELIA DAMAGE
` REPAIRS TO CORPUS CHRISTI MUSEUM BUILDING, SAID WORK TO INCLUDE REPAIRS TO
THE ROOF AND WALLS, ALL AS MORE FULLY SET OUT IN THE PLANS AND SPECIFICA-
TIONS AND CONTRACT DOCUMENTS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY SECRETARY,
ALL OF WHICH ARE MADE A PART HEREOF BY REFERENCE, AND ACCORDING TO THE BID
OF ASTRO CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, INC., OPENED ON THE 1OTH DAY OF FEBRUARY,
1971, THE SAID BID OF ASTRO CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, INC. BEING THE LOWEST AND
MOST ADVANTAGEOUS-TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS.
SECTION 2. THERE IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED THE SUM OF $6,018.63 OUT
OF NO. 102 GENERAL FUND, ACTIVITY N0. 44298, APPLICABLE TO JOB No. 102 - 41298 -86.
SECTION 3. THE NECESSITY TO MAKE REPAIRS TO CORPUS CHRISTI MUSEUM
BUILDING AT THE EARLIEST PRACTICABLE DATE CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN
IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE
THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS
INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE
SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED SUCH
EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY TO EXIST, AND HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF THE
CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS
INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER
ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, THIS THE ;.�`/V(i DAY OF

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore,
request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordi-
nance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.
