AN ORDINANCE
MAKING A FINDINGS OF FACT WITH RESPECT TO T HE APPLICA-
TION OF SOUTHWESTERN BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY FOR AN
INCREASE IN ITS RATES FOR EXCHANGE SERVICE IN THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS; AUTHORIZING A SCHEDULE OF
RATES APPLICABLE WITHIN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI FOR
EXCHANGE SERVICES; FIXING A DATE FOR APPLICATION OF SUCH
i RATES; REQUIRING FILING OF ANNUAL FINANCIAL STATEMENT
BY SAID TELEPHONE COMPANY; ESTABLISHING A SCHEDULE OF
MISCELLANEOUS RATES AND CHARGES FOR THE SOUTHWESTERN
BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY.
WHEREAS, THE SOUTHWESTERN BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY HAS FILED
ITS PETITION WITH THE CITY COUNCIL, SEEKING AN INCREASE IN THE RATES
TO BE CHARGED BY SAID COMPANY FOR EXCHANGE TELEPHONE SERVICE IN THE
CITY CF CORPUS CHRISTI; AND
WHEREAS, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI HAS
DULY CONSIDERED THE PETITION AND ALL THE EVIDENCE:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT BASED UPON THE FAIR VALUE OF THE PROPERTY
OF THE SOUTHWESTERN BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY, DEVOTED TO FURNISHING SER-
VICE TO THE CITY AND THE INHABITANTS THEREOF, THE SCHEDULE OF RATES AND
CHARGES HEREINAFTER ESTABLISHED WILL PROVIDE, TAKING INTO ACCOUNT
DIRECTORY ADVERTISING AND OTHER MISCELLANEOUS REVENUES, TO THE SAID
SOUTHWESTERN BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY AN ANNUAL INCOME SUFFICIENT TO MEET
ITS TOTAL EXPENSE REQUIREMENTS AND PAY THE FAIR RETURN TO WHICH IT IS
ENTITLED BY LAW.
SECTION 2. THAT THE SOUTHWESTERN BELL TELEPHONE C0I4PANY IS
HEREBY AUTHORIZED TO PLACE IN EFFECT THE FOLLOWING SCHEDULE OF EXCHANGE
RATES AND SCHEDULE OF MISCELLANEOUS RATES AND CHARGES, WHICH RATES SHALL
APPLY TO ALL INSTALLATIONS Al ALL POINTS NOW WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, AND AS WELL AS TO ALL INSTALLATIONS AT ALL
POINTS WITHIN ANY TERRITORY HEREAFTER ANNEXED BY THE CITY FROM AND AFTER
THE DATE OF ANNEXATION, FOR THE RESPECTIVE CLASSES OF SERVICE AND THE RES-
PECTIVE ITEMS FOR WHICH MISCELLANEOUS RATES AND CHARGES ARE LISTED:

SECTION 3. THE SOUTHWESTERN BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY SHALL
PLACE INTO EFFECT THE SCHEDULE OF RATES HEREINABOVE PROVIDED EFFECTIVE
FROM AND AFTER THE PASSAGE OF THIS ORDINANCE.

SECTION . NOTHING IN THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE CONSTRUED NOW
OR HEREAFTER AS LIMITING OR MODIFYING IN ANY MANNER THE RIGHT AND POWER
OF THE CITY TO REGULATE THE RATES AND CHARGES OF THE SOUTHWESTERN BELL
TELEPHONE COMPANY.
SECTION 5. THAT THE SOUTHWESTERN BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY
IS HEREBY DIRECTED AND REQUIRED TO FILE WITH THE DIRECTOR OF FINANCE
OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI AN ANNUAL FINANCIAL STATEMENT ON OR BEFORE
THE IST DAY OF APRIL OF EACH CALENDAR YEAR COVERING THE LAST NEXT PRE-
CEDING CALENDAR YEAR OF JANUARY 1 TO DECEMBER 31, BOTH INCLUSIVE. SUCH
FINANCIAL STATEMENT SHALL SHOW DATA SUFFICIENT IN DETAIL AS TO THE REVENUES,
DISBURSEMENTS AND CAPITAL INVESTMENT OF THE TELEPHONE COMPANY FOR THE
RESPECTIVE CALENDAR YEAR PERIOD ENDING DECEMBER 31 NEXT PREVIOUS TO THE
DATE OF SUCH REPORT, INCLUDING REVENUES FROM AND DISBURSEMENTS FOR
DIRECTORY ADVERTISING, SOAS TO ENABLE THE CITY TO DETERMINE THE GROSS AND to
NET REVENUES AND THE EFFECT OF THE SCHEDULE OF RATES IN FORCE DURING THE
RESPECTIVE PERIOD. SUCH FINANCIAL STATEMENT SHALL ALSO SHOW THE AVERAGE
CAPITAL INVESTMENT FOR THE SAID CALENDAR YEAR PERIODS THE SCHEDULE OF
