HomeMy WebLinkAbout10129 ORD - 03/03/1971BJW:3/3/71 TEXAS: AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH MANSON INDUSTRIES FOR HURRICANE CELIA DAMAGE REPAIRS TO THE CORPUS CHRISTI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT; APPROPRIATING OUT OF NO. 117 AIRPORT FUND THE SUM OF $22,250 FOR CONSTRUCTION, OF WHICH AMOUNT $8,195 IS APPLICABLE TO JOB NO. 117 - 5498 -01, AIR TERMINAL BUILD- ING AND CAFE; $13,209 IS APPLICABLE TO JOB NO. 117- 5498-02, CONTROL TOWER MAINTENANCE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT; AND $846 IS APPLICABLE TO JOB NO. 117 - 5498 -o4, AIRPORT INSPECTION BUILDING; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. THAT THE CITY MANAGER BE, AND HE IS HEREBY, AUTHORIZED AND DIRECTED TO EXECUTE, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, A CONTRACT WITH MANSON INDUSTRIES FOR HURRICANE CELIA DAMAGE REPAIRS TO THE CORPUS CHRISTI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, ALL AS MORE FULLY DESCRIBED IN THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND CONTRACT DOCUMENTS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY SECRETARY, ALL OF WHICH ARE MADE A PART HEREOF BY REFERENCE, AND ACCORDING TO THE BID OF MANSON INDUSTRIES, OPENED ON THE 24TH DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1971, THE SAID BID OF MANSON INDUSTRIES BEING THE LOWEST AND MOST ADVANTAGEOUS TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS. SECTION 2. THERE IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED OUT OF NO. 117 AIRPORT FUND THE SUM OF $22,250 FOR CONSTRUCTION, OF WHICH $8,195 IS APPLICABLE TO JOB NO. 117- 5498 -01, AIR TERMINAL BUILDING AND CAFE; AND $13,209 IS APPLI- CABLE TO JOB NO. 117 - 5498 -02, CONTROL TOWER MAINTENANCE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT; AND $846 IS APPLICABLE TO JOB No. 117 - 5493 -041 AIRPORT INSPECTION BUILDING. SECTION 3. THE NECESSITY TO EXECUTE THE AFORESAID CONTRACT AND TO APPROPRIATE THE SUMS THEREOF CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDI- NANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECES- SITY TO EXIST, AND HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, 10129 IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, THIS THE S/LCr DAY of MARCH, 1971.
