HomeMy WebLinkAbout10131 ORD - 03/03/1971VMP:3 /1/71 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH HELDENFELS BROTHERS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF SANITARY SEWER EXTENSIONS FOR ROLLING ACRES NO. 1, ROLLING ACRES NO. 2, AND NAVIGATION INDUSTRIAL PARK; APPROPRIATING OUT OF NO. 250 SANITARY SEWER BOND FUND THE SUM OF $220,000, OF WHICH $209,252.50 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $10,747.50 IS FOR CONTIN- GENCIES ALL OF WHICH IS APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 250- 70 -�0.2; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. THAT THE CITY MANAGER BE, AND HE IS HEREBY, AUTHORIZED AND DIRECTED TO EXECUTE, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, A CONTRACT WITH HELDENFELS BROTHERS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF SANITARY SEWER EXTENSIONS FOR ROLLING ACRES N0. 1, ROLLING ACRES NO. 2, AND NAVIGATION INDUSTRIAL PARK, PROJECT NO. 250 -70 -80.2, ALL AS MORE FULLY SET OUT IN THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND CONTRACT DOCUMENTS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY SECRETARY, ALL OF WHICH ARE MADE A PART HEREOF BY REFERENCE, AND ACCORDING TO THE BID OF HELDENFELS BROTHERS, OPENED ON FEBRUARY 24, 1971, THE SAID BID OF HELDENFELS BROTHERS BEING THE LOWEST AND MOST ADVANTAGEOUS TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS. �.- SECTION 2. THERE IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED THE SUM OF $220,000, OF WHICH $209,252.50 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $10,7117.50 IS FOR CONTINGENCIES, ALL OF WHICH IS APPLICABLE TO PROJECT ND. 250- 70 -8O.2. SECTION 3. THE NECESSITY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF SANITARY SEWER EXTENSIONS FOR ROLLING ACRES N0. 1, ROLLING ACRES NO. 2, AND NAVIGATION INDUSTRIAL PARK CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECES- SITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF _THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY TO EXIST, AND HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT l ®131 AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, THIS THE 134 DAY OF MARCH, 1971.
