HomeMy WebLinkAbout10165 ORD - 03/17/19713/17/71'. e AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 21 -156 OF THE CORPUS CHRISTI CITY CODE, 1958, AS AMENDED, DESIGNATED "SCHEDULE IV -- STOPPING, STANDING OR PARKING PROHIBITED DURING CERTAIN HOURS ON CERTAIN STREETS ", SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THERE BE NO STOPPING, STANDING OR PARKING OF VEHICLES BETWEEN 4:00 P.M. AND 6:00 P.M. ON THE WEST SIDE OF TANCAHUA STREET BETWEEN LEOPARD STREET AND HANCOCK STREET, THEREBY REMOVING EXISTING PEAK-POUR RESTRICTIONS ON THE WEST SIDE OF TANCAHUA STREET BETWEEN BUFFALO AND LEOPARD STREET; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Section 21 -156 of the Corpus Christi City Code, 1958, as amended, titled "SCHEDULE IV -- STOPPING, STANDING OR PARKING PROHIBITED DURING CERTAIN HOURS ON CERTAIN STREETS ", be amended so as to delete that item which now reads: HOURS, STOPPING, STANDING NAME OF STREET OR PARKING PROHIBITED "West side of Tancahua Street between Buffalo and Hancock Between 4:00 P.M. and Street 6:00 P.M." and in lieu thereof, add an item reading as follows:. NAME OF STREET "West side of Tancahua Street between Leopard Street and Hancock Street HOURS, STOPPING, STANDING OR PARKING PROHIBITED Between 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M." SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its publication one time in the official publication of the City of . Corpus Christi, which publication shall contain the caption stating in summary the purpose of the Ordinance. SECTION 3. The necessity to remove existing peak -hour parking restrictions on the West side of Tancahua Street between Buffalo Street and Leopard Street at the earliest possible date so as to provide needed parking space at this time, creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor f ®1.65 C- having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publi- cation, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the %� day of March, 1971.
