AN ORDINANCE
APPROVING THE ATTACHED LIST OF PROPERTIES AND THE
PROPOSED ASSESSED VALUES AS RE- ASSESSED BY THE TAX
ASSESSOR - COLLECTOR FOR THE TAX YEAR 1963 AND DIRECT-
ING THE TAX ASSESSOR - COLLECTOR TO COMPUTE THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI TAX FOR THE TA-X YEAR 1963 USING
THE TAX RATE IN EFFECT FOR THE YEAR 1963 AND TO COM-
PUTE THE PENALTIES FOR NON- PAYIvENT OF DELINQUENT
TAXES ON THE PROPERTIES LISTED ON EXHIBIT "A ',
ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF; AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS C}iRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. APPROVAL IS HEREBY GIVEN THE ATTACHED LIST OF PRO-
PERTIES AND THE PROPOSED ASSESSED VALUES AS RE- ASSESSED BY THE TAX ASSESSOR -
COLLECTOR FOR THE TAX YEAR 1963, THE SAME BEING MARKED EXHIBIT "A ", AND THE
TAX ASSESSOR - COLLECTOR IS HEREBY DIRECTED TO COMPUTE THE CITY OF CORPUS ?.
CHRISTI TAX FOR EACH SEPARATE LOT FOR THE TAX YEAR 1963 USING THE TAX RATE

IN EFFECT FOR THE YEAR 1963 AND IN ADDITION THERETO TO COMPUTE A PENALTY
EQUAL IN AMOUNT TO WHAT WOULD BE SIX (6) PERCENT INTEREST FROM THE DATE SUCH
PROPERTIES WOULD HAVE BEEN DELINQUENT HAD SAME BEEN PROPERLY RENDERED BY THE
OWNER THEREOF FOR THE YEAR 1963 UNTIL PAID IN FULL.
SECTION Z. THE NECESSITY TO RE- ASSESS THE PROPERTIES REFERRED
TO HEREINABOVE FOR THE TAX YEAR 1963 CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERA-
TIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO
ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUC-
TION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL
MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY
AND NECESSITY TO EXIST, AND HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER
RULE AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUC-
TION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS

TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
Corpus Christi, Texas
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore,
request that you suspend said Charter rule.or requirement and pass this ordi-
nance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.
