AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO MkKE APPLICATION
FOR FEDERAL GRANT UDDER THE HOUSING AMID URBAN
DEVELOPMENT ACT OF 1965, PUBLIC LAW 89 -117 AS
AMENDED, AND TO SIGN THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS -
REQUIRED IN ORDER TO COMPLETE THE CONSTRUCTION OF
CERTAIN SANITARY SEFIER MAINS AND COLLECTOR FACIII-
TIES IN THE CLAMTOOD AND SAN JUAN AREA, CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, PUECES COUNTY, TEXAS; AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, it is contemplated that the City of Corpus Christi,
Texas, will construct certain sanitary sewer mains and collector facili-
ties with an estimated total cost of $461,470.14; and
WHEREAS, it is found that the City of Corpus Christi is unable
to provide the total cost of such improvements; and
WHEREAS, it is deemed necessary and proper to apply-for Federal

Grant under the Housing and Urban Development Act of 19651 Public Law
89 -117 as amended, in order to have sufficient funds to complete these
much needed improvements:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY,THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, that R. Marvin Townsend, City Manager of
the City of Corpus Christi, be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed
to make application and sign the necessary documents required to complete
the project on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi, for a Federal Grant
under Public Law 89 -117 as amended, to be applied to the cost of the
construction of said sewage facilities. The City of Corpus Christi
hereby agrees that if a Federal Grant for the Project is made pursuant
to the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1965, the City will pay the
remaining costs of the approved project. /,

FOR THE REASONS SET FORTH IN THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE OF THE FOREGOING
ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR THE SUSPEN-
SION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL
BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL; I, THEREFORE,
REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDI-
NANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL.
