HomeMy WebLinkAbout10286 ORD - 06/02/1971JK H: 6 -2 -71 4 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 10,217, RELATING TO THE APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS AND AUTHORIZATION OF A CONTRACT WITH BRASELTON CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR THE CONSTRUC- TION OF THE MUNICIPAL SERVICE CENTER, SO AS TO HEREBY APPROPRIATE AND REAPPROPRIATE OUT OF THE NO. 207 PUBLIC BUILDING BOND FUND THE SUM OF $1,0140,000, OF WHICH $993,3236.94 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $46,676.0 IS FOR CONTINGENCIES, INCLUDING ENGINEERING AND INCIDENTAL EXPENSES, ALL APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 207- 70 -10; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. THAT ORDINANCE No. 10,217, PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON MARCH 31, 1971, RELATING TO THE APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS AND AUTHORIZATION OF A CONTRACT WITH BRASELTON CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE MUNICIPAL SERVICE CENTER, BE AND THE SAME IS HEREBY AMENDED SO AS TO HEREBY APPROPRIATE AND REAPPROPRIATE OUT OF THE N0. 207 PUBLIC BUILDING BOND FUND THE SUM OF $1,o4O,o00, OF WHICH $993,323.94 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $46,676.o6 IS FOR CONTINGENCIES, INCLUDING ENGINEERING AND INCIDENTAL EXPENSES, ALL APPLICABLE TO PROJECT N0. 207 - 70-10. SECTION 2. EXCEPT AS HEREBY AMENDED, ORDINANCE N0. 10,217 SHALL REMAIN IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT. SECTION 3. THE NECESSITY TO AMEND THE AFORESAID ORDINANCE AS HEREINABOVE SET FORTH CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION BUT THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED THAT SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY EXIST, AND HAVING REQUESTED THE SUS- PENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, THIS THEnC_R—DAY OF JUNE, 1971. a 4AYOR THE CITY OF CO CHRISTI, TEXAS 10286 J i3 CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS r DAY OF U TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS FOR THE REASONS SET FORTH IN THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE OF THE FOREGOING ORDINANCEI A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR THE SUSPEN- SION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL; I, THEREFORE, REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDI- NANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
