A RESOLUTION.
` AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO MAKE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL
FUNDS FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF LABOR, AND TO SIGN
THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR THE APPLICATION AND
CONDUCT OF A SPECIAL SUMMER RECREATION PROGRAM FOR THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, NUECES COUNTY,.TEXAS; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, it is contemplated that the City of Corpus Christi, Texas
will conduct and carry out a special summer recreation program with a proposed
total cost of $84,000.00; and
WHEREAS, it is found that the City of Corpus Christi is unable to
provide the cost of such program; and
WHEREAS, it is found that such program will be of benefit to the
citizens of Corpus Christi; and
WHEREAS, it is deemed necessary and proper to apply for Federal Funds
from the United States Department of labor, in order to have sufficient funds
to carry out this much needed program:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, that R. Marvin Townsend, City Manager of the City of
Corpus Christi, be and is hereby, authorized and directed to make application
and sign the necessary documents required to complete the project on behalf of
the City of Corpus Christi for Federal Funds from the United States Department
of Labor to provide the cost of said special summer recreation program.

FOR THE REASONS SET FORTH IN THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE OF THE FOREGOING
ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR THE SUSPEN-
SION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL
BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL; I, THEREFORE,
REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDI-
NANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL.
