AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT
WITH MANSON INDUSTRIES FOR HURRICANE CELIA DAMAGE
REPAIRS TO MEMORIAL COLISEUM; APPROPRIATING OUT OF
NO. 102 GENERAL FUND, ACTIVITY 14298, CODE 502, THE
SUM OF $42,189.60 FOR THE AFORESAID CONTRACT; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT THE CITY MANAGER BE, AND HE IS HEREBY, AUTHORIZED
TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH MANSON INDUSTRIES FOR THE REPAIR OF DAMAGES TO
MEMORIAL COLISEUM AS RESULT OF HURRICANE CELIA, ALL AS IS MORE FULLY
DESCRIBED IN THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND CONTRACT DOCUMENTS ON FILE
IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY SECRETARY, ALL OF WHICH ARE MADE A PART HEREOF
BY REFERENCE AND ACCORDING TO THE BID OF MANSON INDUSTRIES, OPENED ON THE
26TH DAY OF MAY, 1971, THE SAID BID OF MANSON INDUSTRIES BEING THE LOWEST
AND MOST ADVANTAGEOUS TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS.
SECTION 2. THERE IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED OUT OF THE NO. 102
GENERAL FUND, ACTIVITY 1429$, CODE 502, THE SUM OF $442,189.60 FOR THE
AFORESAID CONTRACT.
SECTION 3. THE NECESSITY TO EXECUTE THE AFORESAID CONTRACT AND

TO APPROPRIATE THE SUMS THEREFOR CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERA-
TIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHAR7E`_RU LE THAT NO
ORDINANCE FOR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRO-
DUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE
SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED THAT
SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY EXIST, AND HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION
OF THE CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DAT�
OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM

FOR THE REASONS SET FORTH IN THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE OF THE FOREGOING
ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR THE SUSPEN-
SION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL
BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL; I, THEREFORE,
REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDI-
NANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL.
