HomeMy WebLinkAbout10329 ORD - 06/30/19716- 30- 71:mvl AN ORDINANCE A AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 8127, AS AMENDED, BY AMENDING SECTION I, BY DELETING THE POSITIONS OF FIRST ASSISTANT PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR AND SECOND ASSISTANT PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR AND CREATING THE POSITION OF DIRECTOR OF ENGINEER- ING SERVICES AND ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS IN THE UNCLASSIFIED SERVICE, PROVIDING A SEVERANCE CLAUSE; PRO- VIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Section 1, of said Ordinance No. 8127, as amended, be, and the same is hereby, amended by deleting the following classifications: JOB CODE CLASS TITLE CLASS GRADE 063 First Assistant Public Works Director 39 064 Second Assistant Public Works Director 36 SECTION 2. That Section 1, of said Ordinance No. 8127, as amended, be, and the same is hereby, amended by creating the following classifications: JOB CODE CLASS TITLE CLASS GRADE 077 Assistant Public Works Director 36 078 Director of Engineering Services 42 SECTION 3. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid, it shall not affect any valid provision of this or any other ordinance of the City of Corpus Christi to which these rules and regulations relate. SECTION 4. The effective date of the above changes shall be June 30, 1971. SECTION 5. The fact that there is an immediate need to create certain new positions and a need to maintain an efficient administration of City affairs creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having requested the suspension of the said Charter rule, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take 10329 4 effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the 10 � b day of June, 1971.
