AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH
HELDENFELS BROTHERS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF STREET AND STORM
SEWER IMPROVEMENTS FOR SACKY AND WEAVER STREETS, CABANISS
ACRES SUBDIVISION, AND CORPUS CHRISTI HOUSING AUTHORITY
SITES "A" AND "B "; APPROPRIATING $172,886.96 OUT OF NO.
295 STORM SEWER BOND FUND AND $33,113.04 OUT OF NO. 220
STREET BOND FUND, FOR A TOTAL OF $206,000, FOR THE CON-
STRUCTION CONTRACT AND FOR CONTINGENCIES AND INCIDENTAL
EXPENSES; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
SECTION 1. THAT THE CITY MANAGER IS AUTHORIZED TO EXECUTE A CON-
TRACT, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY, WITH HELDENFELS BROTHERS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF
STREET AND STORM SEWER IMPROVEMENTS FOR SACKY AND WEAVER STREETS, CABANISS
ACRES SUBDIVISION, AND CORPUS CHRISTI HOUSING AUTHORITY SITES "A" AND "B ",
ALL AS IS MORE FULLY DESCRIBED IN THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND CONTRACT
DOCUMENTS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY SECRETARY, ALL OF WHICH ARE
MADE A PART HEREOF BY REFERENCE AND ACCORDING TO THE BID OF HELDENFELS
BROTHERS OPENED ON JUNE 23, 19711 THE SAID BID OF HELDENFELS BROTHERS BEING
THE LOWEST AND MOST ADVANTAGEOUS TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHR!TTI. THERE iS TO
BE DELETED FROM SAID CONTRACT BID ITEM NO. 18, 60" R. C. PIPE; AND BID ITEM
ND. 11, 42" R.C. PIPE, IS TO BE INCREASED BY 1,380 L.F.
SECTION 2. THERE IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED $172,886.96 OUT OF.NO.
295 STORM SEWER BOND FUND, OF WHICH $118)771.90 IS APPLICABLE TO PROJECT
No. 295 -70 -62.3, DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS FOR CABANISS ACRES SUBDIVISON
$113,577.34 FOR CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $5094.56 FOR CONTINGENCIES AND
INCIDENTAL EXPENSES); AND OF WHICH $54,115.06 IS APPLICABLE TO PROJECT
N0. 295- 70 -74, DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS FOR CORPUS CHRISTI HOUSING AUTHORITY
SITES "A" AND "B" $51,748.30 BEING FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND
$2,366.76 FOR CONTINGENCIES AND INCIDENTAL EXPENSES).
SECTION 3. THERE IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED $33,113.04 OUT OF N0. 220
STREET BOND FUND, APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 220 - 70-124, SACKYAND WEAVER
STREET IMPROVEMENTS $31,664.82 BEING FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND
$1,448.22 FOR CONTINGENCIES).
SECTION 4. THE NECESSITY TO EXECUTE THE AFORESAID CONTRACT AND
TO APPROPRIATE THE SUMS HEREINABOVE SET OUT AT THE EARLIEST POSSIBLE DATE,

SO THAT CONSTRUCTION MAY COMMENCE, CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERA-
TIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO
ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUC-
TION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL
MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR, HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY
AND NECESSITY TO EXIST, HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF SAID CHARTER RULE
AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION
AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM
AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED THIS THE.2/ DAY OF

BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL; i, THEREFORE,
