AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING CHAPTER 19, HEALTH AND SANITATION OF THE
CORPUS CHRISTI CITY CODE, 1958 AS AMENDED IN
PARTICULAR BY ORDINANCE NO. 6249, PASSED AND APPROVED
BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON AUGUST 16, 1961, BY AMENDING
SECTION 19 -29 BY INCREASING THE FEE TO $2.00 FOR
ISSUANCE OF CERTIFIED COPIES OF BIRTH, DEATH OR FETAL
DEATH CERTIFICATES FILED IN THE OFFICE OF THE REGIS-
TRAR OF VITAL STATISTICS OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI;
REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; PROVID-
ING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION l., THAT CHAPTER 19, HEALTH AND SANITATION, SECTION 19 -29,
OF THE CORPUS CHRISTI CITY CODE, 1958, AS AMENDED IN PARTICULAR BY ORDINANCE
ND. 6249, PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON AUGUST 16, 1961, BE,
AND THE SAME IS HEREBY, AMENDED TO HEREAFTER READ AS FOLLOWS:
"SECTION 19 -29. ISSUANCE OF CERTIFIED COPIES; FEE.
THE REGISTRAR OF VITAL STATISTICS MAY ISSUE TO A PROPERLY QUALI-
FIED APPLICANT UPON THE PAYMENT OF A FEE OF $2.00 A CERTIFIED COPY OF A
BIRTH, DEATH OR FETAL DEATH CERTIFICATE FILED IN HIS OFFICE; PROVIDED,
THAT THE RESTRICTIONS CONTAINED IN RULE 47A, ARTICLE 4477, REVISED CIVIL
STATUTES, SHALL BE OBSERVED IN THE ISSUANCE OF SUCH COPIES. ALL FEES
COLLECTED BY THE REGISTRAR OF VITAL STATISTICS FOR THE ISSUANCE OF CERTI-
FIED COPIES OF RECORDS OF BIRTHS, DEATHS AND FETAL DEATHS SHALL BE DEPOSITED
WITH THE CITY TREASURER."
SECTION 2. ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
HEREWITH SHALL BE AND ARE HEREBY REPEALED.
SECTION 3. THIS ORDINANCE SHALL TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL
FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER AUGUST 1, 1971.
SECTION 4. THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE PUBLISHED ONE TIME IN THE
OFFICIAL PUBLICATION OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, BY PUBLISHING THE
CAPTION OF THIS ORDINANCE, STATING IN SUBSTANCE THE PURPOSE OF THE
ORDINANCE.
SECTION 5. THE PUBLIC IMPORTANCE OF THIS ORDINANCE IN SECURING
AN ADEQUATE FEE TO DEFRAY THE COST TO THE PUBLIC IN PROVIDING CERTIFIED

COPIES OF BIRTH, DEATH OR FETAL DEATH CERTIFICATES AND TO COMPLY WITH THE
STATE LAW WHICH IS TO TAKE EFFECT FROM AND AFTER AUGUST 1, 1971, CREATES
A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION
OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY
ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION BUT THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL
BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR HAVING
DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY TO EXIST, AND HAVING REQUESTED THE
SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY
ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION,

ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR THE SUSPEN-
SION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL
BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL; I, THEREFORE,
REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDI-
NANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL.
