HomeMy WebLinkAbout10484 RES - 09/22/1971• • A RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the City has considered the Department of Housing and Urban Development as a major resource in its efforts to combat blight and slum conditions, and to improve the City through the development of parks and open space, water and sewer facilities, neighborhood facilities, housing for low and moderate income families and other programs beneficial to the citizens of this City; and WHEREAS, the City has established a close working relationship with the Fort Worth Regional Office and frequently traveled to Fort Worth for technical assistance and in pursuit of project approval; and WHEREAS, the City was apprehensive about the establishment of area offices, fearful that the additional level would slow down the approval process and result in less adequate technical assistance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS THAT: (1) The City of Corpus Christi expresses to the Department of Housing and Urban Development its appreciation for the reorganization efforts that re- sulted in the establishment of Area Offices at strategic geographical locations, conducive to the development of closer working relationships with local govern- ments and facilitating access to technical assistance; (2) Corpus Christi has found the Area Office to have a competent staff able to provide needed technical assistance and with the authority to act on project applications with unexpected dispatch; (3) Corpus Christi has found the Area Office knowledgeable about local conditions and always willing to assist; (4) Corpus Christi particularly commends the staff of the San Antonio Area Housing and Urban Development Office for the assistance rendered in the Hurricane Celia recovery efforts and in the development of those programs providing greater benefits to the citizens of Corpus Christi. (5) The City is pleased that the San Antonio Area Office exists and is available to provide prompt and competent service to South Texas.
