HomeMy WebLinkAbout10496 ORD - 09/29/19719/29/71:e AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CORPUS CHRISTI CITY CODE, 1958, AS AMENDED, BY AMENDING SECTION 21 -69 BY ADDING AN ITEM THERETO SO AS TO DECREASE THE SPEED ON AN ALLEY WEST OF THE 3100 -3500 BLOCKS OF AYERS STREET TO 15 MILES PER HOUR AT ALL TIMES; AMENDING SECTION 21 -155, SCHEDULE III, BY ADDING AN ITEM THERETO SO AS TO PROHIBIT PARKING AT ALL TIMES ON AN ALLEY WEST OF THE 3100 -3500 BLOCKS OF AYERS STREET; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; PROVIDING SEVERABILITY; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. • BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the Corpus Christi City Code, 1958, as amended, be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto the following item under Section 21 -69, "DECREASE OF STATE LAW MAXIMUM SPEED ", which Item shall read as follows: NAME OF STREET SPEED LIMIT EFFECTIVE TIMES "Alley West of the 3100 -3500 Blocks of Ayers Street: From its beginning at La Armada I & II to its termination at Tarleton Street 15 miles per hour At all times ". SECTION 2. That the Corpus Christi City Code, 1958,as amended, be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto the following item under Section 21 -155, "SCHEDULE III - PARKING PROHIBITED AT ALL TIMES ON CERTAIN STREETS ", which Item shall read as follows: °Alley West of the 3100 -3500 Blocks of Ayers Street, west side, from La Armada I & ZI to Tarleton Street ". SECTION 2. Publication shall be made in the official publication of the City of Corpus Christi one time, which publi- cation shall contain the caption stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance. SECTION 3. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, or provision of this Ordinance shall be held invalid by final judgment of a court of competent juris- diction, it shall not affect any valid provisions of this or any 10496 other ordinance of the City of Corpus Christi to which these rules and regulations relate. SECTION 4. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith shall be and are hereby repealed to the extent of conflict herewith. SECTION 5. The necessity for immediate adoption of the hereinabove set forth amendment in order to maintain at all times a comprehensive traffic ordinance for the City of Corpus Christi creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter Rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its intro- duction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter Rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the, 2. . -day of September, 1971.
