HomeMy WebLinkAbout10526 ORD - 10/20/1971a AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 21 -68 OF THE CORPUS CHRISTI CITY CODE, 1958, AS AMENDED, BY AMENDING SPEED LIMITS ON HOLLY ROAD AS HEREINAFTER PROVIDED; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. THAT SECTION 21 -68 OF THE CORPUS CHRISTI CITY CODE, 1958, AS AMENDED, BE, AND THE SAME IS HEREBY, AMENDED BY ADOPTING THE FOLLOWING SPEED LIMITS ON HOLLY ROAD: NAME OF STREET SPEED U MIT EFFECTIVE TIMES HOLLY ROAD, FROM THE INTER- SECTION OF ROOD FIELD ROAD TO THE INTERSECTION OF , AYERS STREET (S.H. 286) 35 MILES PER HOUR AT ALL TIMES SECTION 2. PUBLICATION SHALL BE MADE ONE TIME IN THE OFFICIAL PUBLICATION OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, WHICH PUBLICATION SHALL CONTAIN THE CAPTION STATING IN SUBSTANCE THE PURPOSE OF THE ORDINANCE. SECTION 3. THE NECESSITY TO MAINTAIN A COMPREHENSIVE TRAFFIC ORDINANCE FOR THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI IN ORDER TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE OF THE PUBLIC CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY TO EXIST, HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE AND PUBLICATION, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, THIS THE JOf���zV DAY OF OCTOBER, 1971.
