AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH
HELDENFELS BROTHERS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF GOLLIHAR
ROAD STREET IMPROVEMENTS, UNIT IV, KOSTORYZ TO DODY,
PROJECT NO. 220 - 67-87; APPROPRIATING $415,000 OF WHICH
$334,814.12 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CON'T'RACT AND $30,185.88
IS FOR CONTINGENCIES AND INCIDENTAL EXPENSES; AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is authorized to execute a
contract, on behalf of the City, with Heldenfels Brothers for the con-
struction of Gollihar Road Street Improvements, Unit IV, Kostoryz to Dody,
all as is more fully described in the plans and specifications and contract
documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are
made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Heldenfels
Brothers opened on August 11, 1971, the said bid of Heldenfels Brothers
being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi.
SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated $415,000 out of Project
No. 220- 67 -87, of which $384.814.12 is for the construction contract and
$30,185.88 is for contingencies and incidental expenses.
SECTION 3. The necessity to execute the aforesaid contract and
to appropriate the sum hereinabove set out at the earliest possible date,
so that construction may commence, creates a public emergency and an impera-
tive pulbic necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduc-
tion and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several
meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency `
and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of said Charter rule
and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction
and that such ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from
and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED this the �6K1b day
of October, 1971.

from which it is proposed to be drawn, and such money is not appropriated for
any other purpose.

ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR THE SUSPEN-
SION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL
BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL; I, THEREFORE,
REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDI-
NANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL.
