HomeMy WebLinkAbout10650 RES - 12/29/1971•- q t i' • r A0RESOLUTION ,•AUTHORIZING THE,CITY MANAGER TO'MAKE AN AMENDED " APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL GRANT UNDER THE`HOUSING AND q URBAN DEVELOPMENT ACT OF 1965, PUBLIC LAW 89 -117 AS ' « AMENDED, AND TO SIGN THE NECESSARY•DOCUMhTS REQUIRED . IN ORDER TO COMPLETE THE CONSTRUCTION OF CERTAIN SANITARY SEWER MAINS AND COLLECTOR FACILITIES IN THE CLARKWOOD -SAN JUAN AND MCNORTON AREAS, CITY OF CORPUS' CHRISTI, NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. , WHEREAS, it is contemplated that the City of Corpus Christi, ' Texas will construct certain sanitary sewer mains and collector °facilities with an estimated total cost of $603,000.00; and WHEREAS, it is fout}d that the City of Corpus'Christi is unable ' to provide the total cost of such improvements; and WHEREAS, by Resolution 10279, passed and approved by the City Council on June 2, 1971, authorization was granted the City Manager to make application for Federal Grant in the sum of $461,470.14 for the aforesaid sanitary sewer mains and collector facilities; and WHEREAS, it is deemed necessary and proper to apply for Federal. Grant under the Housing dnd Urban Development Act of 1965, Public Law 89 -117 as amended, in order to have sufficient funds to complete the aforesaid much needed improvements: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: That R. Marvin Townsend, City Manager of the City of Corpus Christi, be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to make application and sign the necessary documents required to complete the project on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi for a Federal Grant under Public Law 89 -117 as amended, to be applied to the cost of the construction of said sewage facilities. The City of Corpus Christi hereby agrees that if a Federal Grant for the Project is made pursuant to the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1965, the City will pay the remaining costs of the approved project.
