AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH ECONOLITE CORPORATION FOR INSTALLA- TION OF A RADIO FIRE BOX ALARM SYSTEM, ALL AS MORE FULLY SET FORTH IN THE EXHIBITS "A" THROUGH "P ", ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, on November 10, 1971, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, accepted the low bid of $173,224.28 from Econolite Corporation, Fort Worth, Texas, for installation of a radio box fire alarm system which is wireless and will be funded by The Office of Emergency Preparedness under Public Law 91 -606; and WHEREAS, on July 7, 1971 and on December 13, 1971 the City received letters of confirmation from O.E.P. as to the reimbursement which will allow the City to set up a receivable to cover the appropriation: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to enter into a contract with Econolite Corporation, Fort Worth, Texas, for installation of a radio fire box alarm system which is wireless and which will be funded by The Office of Emergency Preparedness under P.L. 91 -606, all in accordance with the attached Exhibits "A" through "P ". SECTION 2. The necessity to enter into the above contract to replace the fire alarm system completely destroyed by Hurricane Celia creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date-of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested that such Charter rule be suspended and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be �� 1.0(353 in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this th.�: day of January, 1972.
