A RESOLUTION
DESIGNATING MAYOR RONNIE SIZEMORE AS THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, DIRECTOR -AT -LARGE TO THE
BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE TEXAS MUNICIPAL LEAGUE
PURSUANT TO ART. IV, SECTION 4.1(2) OF THE
CONSTITUTION OF THE TEXAS MUNICIPAL LEAGUE AND
DIRECTING THE CITY SECRETARY TO CERTIFY SAID
DESIGNATION TO TEXAS MUNICIPAL LEAGUE BY FORWARDING
TO THE LEAGUE A CERTIFIED COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION;
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, in October, 1971 the Constitution of the Texas Municipal
League was amended to expand the size of the TML Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, Art. IV, Sec. 4.1(2) of the Constitution of the Texas
Municipal League now authorizes each City member whose population is in
excess of 200,000 population to designate by resolution one director -at -large
to serve on the TML Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, Corpus Christi, Texas is such City and has been invited
to designate by resolution one elective official to serve as a member of
the League's governing body;, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas
finds that the best interest of the City would be served by the designation
of its able Mayor, the Honorable Ronnie Sizemore, to serve as the City's
director -at- large:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Honorable Ronnie Sizemore, Mayor of the City
of Corpus Christi, Texas be, and he is hereby, designated to serve as the
City's director -at -large to the Board of Directors of the Texas Municipal
League pursuant to Article IV, Section 4.1(2) of the Constitution of the
Texas Municipal League.
SECTION 2. That the City Secretary is directed to certify the
designation of the Honorable Ronnie Sizemore as the City's director -at -large
to the Texas Municipal League by forwarding a certified copy of this
resolution to the Texas Municipal League at its office in Austin, Texas.
SECTION 3. The necessity to immediately designate the City's
director -at -large to the Texas Municipal League creates a public emergency

and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter
rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date
of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having
declared that such emergency and necessity exist, having requested that
such Charter rule be suspended and that this resolution be passed finally
on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and
effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO RESOLVED, this

FOR THE REASONS SET FORTH IN THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE OF THE FOREGOING
ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR THE SUSPEN-
SION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL
BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL; 1, THEREFORE,
REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDI-
NANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL. '
