HomeMy WebLinkAbout10658 ORD - 01/12/1972JKn ., ,... .*k- 'x"b.'-s -Y+Y C:,,r •3+f> tis �.�,�••_ AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH ARNOLD UTILITY CONTRACTORS, INC., FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF OCEAN DRIVE MINOR STORM SEWER IMPROVE- MENTS; APPROPRIATING $40,000, OF WHICH $31,500 IS OUT OF NO. 220 STREET BOND FUND, APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 220 -70 -126, $28,999.09 BEING FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $2,500.91 BEING FOR CONTINGENCIES AND RELATED EXPENSES, AND $8,500 IS FROM THE NO. 295 STORM SE14ER BOND FUND, APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 295- 70 -75, $7,825.15 BEING FOR THE CONSTRUCTION' CONTRACT AND $674.85 BEING FOR CONTINGENCIES AND INCIDENTAL EXPENSES; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE'CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to execute a contract with Arnold Utility Contractors, Inc. for the construc- tion of Ocean Drive Minor Storui Sewer Improvements, all as is more fully described in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Arnold Utility Contractors, Inc., opened on the 5th day of January, 1972, the said bid of Arnold Utility Contractors, Inc. being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated the sum of $40,000, of which $31,500 is out of the No. 220 Street Bond Fund applicable to Project No. 220 -70 -126, $28,999.09 being for the construction contract and $2,500.91 I being for contingencies and related expenses, and $8,500 is from the No. 295 Storm Sewer Bond Fund applicable to Project No. 295- 70 -75, $7,825.15 being for the construction contract and $674.85 being for contingencies and Incidental expenses. SECTION 3. The necessity to execute the aforesaid contract and to appropriate the sum hereinabove set out at the earliest possible date, so that construction may be commenced, creates a public emergency and an impera- tive public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its intro- duction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency 10658 and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of said Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its intro- duction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED,'this the �oZ L day of January, 1972.
