HomeMy WebLinkAbout10831 ORD - 04/26/1972JRR:JFMcK:vmp:4 /26/72:lst s AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE CONTRACTS WITH GENERAL ELECTRIC CORPORATION, GTE SYLVANIA CORPORATION AND MAGNASYNC/MOVIOLA CORPORATION FOR THE FURNISHING AND INSTALLATION OF A COMPLETE POLICE COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM FOR THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, POLICE DIVISION, IN ACCORD- `/ ANCE WITH THE SPECIFICATIONS SET FORTH IN THE BID INVITATION OF THE COASTAL BEND COUNCIL OF GOVERN- MENTS ON FILE IN THE CITY SECRETARY'S OFFICE FOR THE REGIONAL COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM; APPROPRIATING ,v ,9[• $4,900.06 FROM THE GENERAL FUND RESERVE FOR SAID CONTRACTS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to execute, for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi, three contracts attached hereto for the complete Police Digital Communica- tions System for the Police Division of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, N in accordance with the bid specifications on file with the City Secretary, incorporated herein for all intents and purposes. The total amount of said contracts is $303,600.25 of which Seventy -Five Percent (758) will be paid by a grant from the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration and Twenty -Five Percent (258) from City funds. The City of Corpus Christi's contribution will be $75,900.06, of which $71,000 is to be paid from the general fund as budgeted and $4,900.06 from the general fund reserve. SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated out of the Code 102 General Fund Reserve $4,900.06 for payment on the contracts for the complete Police Digital Communications System for the Police Division of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas. SECTION 3. The necessity to immediately execute the aforesaid 't contracts in order to install and put into operation the complete Police Digital Communications System for the Police Division of the City creates a public emergency and imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally 10831 on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the 26th day of April, 1972.
