FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF GOLLIHAR ROAD FROM CADDO STREET TO AIRLINE ROAD STREET IMPROVEMENTS; APPROPRIATING OUT OF THE NO. 220 STREET BOND FUND $285,000, OF WHICH AMOUNT $274,180.87 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $10,819.13 IS FOR CONTINGENCY AND INCIDENTAL EXPENSES; ALL APPLICABLE,TO PROJECT NO. 220 -70 -110; AND DECLAR- ING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. The City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to execute a contract with Burtex Constructors, Inc. for the construction of Gollihar Road from Caddo Street to Airline Road Street Improvements, Project No. 220 -70 -110, all as is more fully described in the plans and specifica- tions and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Burtex Constructors, Inc., opened on the 5th day of April, 1972, the said bid of Burtex Constructors, Inc. being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated the sum of $285,000, of which $274,180.87 is for the construction contract and $10,819.13 is for contingency and incidental expenses, all out of the No. 220 Street Bond Fund and applicable to Project No. 220 -70 -110. SECTION 3. The necessity to execute the aforesaid contract and to appropriate the sums hereinabove set out at the earliest possible date so that construction may commence, creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take 1C 874 effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the °<"T,'//QQ.1 day of May, 1972.
