HomeMy WebLinkAbout10879 RES - 05/24/1972log :/45" A RESOLUTION b EXPRESSING THE WILLINGNESS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI TO MAKE APPLICATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR, MANPOWER ADMINISTRATION FOR FEDERAL FUNDING TO OPERATE A SUMMER RECREATION SUPPORT PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, applications for assistance by the Federal Government to local public bodies for Summer Recreation Support Programs are being encouraged and accepted by the U. S. Department of Labor, Manpower Administration; and WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi desires to apply for such assistance: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute and to file such application with the Department of Labor to provide information and to furnish such documents as may be required by said Department, and to act as the authorized correspondent of the Applicant. SECTION 2. The necessity to authorize the City Manager to properly make application for Federal funds for the above purposes, creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO RESOLVED, this ay of May, 1972.
