HomeMy WebLinkAbout10912 ORD - 06/14/1972JRR :HG:dp:6 -12 -72 • AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 21 -30, CORPUS CHRISTI CITY CODE, 1958, AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 10079 PASSED AND APPROVED ON JANUARY 20, 1971, SO AS TO DESIGNATE ONE POSITION ON THE TRAFFIC SAFETY ADVISORY BOARD TO BE FILLED AT ALL TIMES BY THE INCUMBENT SECURITY OFFICER AT THE NAVAL AIR STATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED By THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Section 21 -30 of the Corpus Christi City Code, 1958, as amended and as particularly amended by Ordinance No. 10079, passed and approved on January 20, 1971, be and the same is hereby amended to hereafter read as follows: "Sec. 21 -30. Composition, Organization Terms and Compensation; Chairman. "The Traffic Safety Advisory Board shall consist of nine (9) members appointed by the City Council for three -year terms, except that one position shall always be filled by the incumbent Security Officer at the Naval Air Station. The terms of three (3) members shall regularly expire on May 1 of each and every year, except when the said Security Officer's term expires at which time his reappointment will be automatic and two (2) members terms shall expire. All said appointive members shall serve until their successors are appointed and qualified unless removed from the Board as hereinafter provided in Subsection 30.2 of this Section. Each Board member shall be a resident of the City at the time of appointment and continuously during the term of service on the Board." SECTION 2. The necessity to promptly make the hereinabove described amendment to the Corpus Christi City Code pertaining to the Traffic Safety Advisory Board of the City of Corpus Christi, creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of the said Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of 10912 • its introduction and that such ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the day of , 1972.
