FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF AIRPORT ADDITION STREET IMPROVE- MENTS AND MORAVIAN DRIVE, MC ARDLE ROAD TO PADRE ISLAND DRIVE STREET IMPROVEMENTS; APPROPRIATING OUT OF THE NO. 220 STREET BOND FUND $204,000, OF WHICH $194,762.50 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $9,237.50 IS FOR CONTINGENCY AND INCIDENTAL EXPENSES, ALL APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 220 -67 -92.5; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. The City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to execute a contract with Asphalt Maintenance Company, Inc. for the construction of Airport Addition Street Improvements and Moravian Drive, McArdle Road to Padre Island Drive Street Improvements, Project No. 220 -67 -92.5, all as is more fully described in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Asphalt Maintenance Company, Inc. opened on the 22nd day of March, 1972, the said bid of Asphalt Maintenance Company, Inc. being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated the sum of $204,000, of which $194,762.50 is for the construction contract and $9,237.50 is for contin- gency and incidental expenses, all out of the No. 220 Street Bond Fund and applicable to Project No. 220 -67 -92.5. SECTION 3. The necessity to execute the aforesaid contract and to appropriate the sums hereinabove set out at the earliest possible date so that construction may commence, creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance 10937 { 4 JRR:vmp 5/16/72:lst be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after itss passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the R day oflE4ay -, 1972.
