HomeMy WebLinkAbout10972 ORD - 07/19/1972'I-,-\ JRR:vmp 7/14/72:lst AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH MAVERICK CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR THE CON- STRUCTION OF CLARKWOOD, SAN JUAN, AND MC NORTON SANI- TARY SEWER IMPROVEMENTS, CONTRACT NO. 2; APPROPRIATING OUT OF THE NO. 251 SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM H.U.D. GRANT - BOND FUND $230,000, OF WHICH $225,066.56 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $4,933.44 IS FOR CONTINGEN- CIES AND INCIDENTAL EXPENSES, ALL APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 251- 70 -80; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. The City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to execute a contract with Maverick Construction Company for the construction of Clarkwood, San Juan, and McNorton Sanitary Sewer Improvements, Contract No. 2, Project No. 251- 70 -80, all as is more fully described in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Maverick Construction Company, opened on the 21st day of June, 1972, the said bid of Maverick Construction Company being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated out of the No. 251 Sanitary Sewer System H.U.D. Grant Bond Fund $230,000, of which $225,066.56 is for the construction contract and $4,933.44 is for contingencies and incidental expenses, all applicable to Project No. 251- 70 -80. SECTION 3. The necessity to execute the aforesaid contract and to appropriate the sums hereinabove set out at the earliest possible date so that construction may commence, creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordi- nance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and 10972 t. be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the /9,z4•day of July, 1972.
