HomeMy WebLinkAbout10973 ORD - 07/19/1972JRR:vmp 7/17/72:lst AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH HELDENFELS BROTHERS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF IMPROVEMENTS TO SANITARY SEWER COLLECTORS FLOUR -BLUFF AREA, CONTRACT NO. 3 (WS -TEX -327); APPROPRIAT- ING OUT OF THE NO. 251 SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM H.U.D. GRANT BOND FUND $409,644.72 OF WHICH $379,849.98 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $29,794.74 IS FOR CONTINGENCIES AND INCIDENTAL EXPENSES, ALL APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 251 -70 -79.3; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. The City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to execute a contract with Heldenfels Brothers for the construction of improve- ments to sanitary sewer collectors Flour Bluff Area, Contract No. 3 (WS -TEX -327), Project No. 251 -70 -79.3, all as is more fully described in the plans and speci- fications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Heldenfels Brothers, opened on the 12th day of April, 1972, the said bid of Heldenfels Brothers being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. I SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated out of the No. 251 Sanitary Sewer System H.U.D. Grant Bond Fund $409,644.72, of which $379,849.98 is for the construction contract and $29,794.74 is for contingencies and incidental expenses, all applicable to Project No. 251 -70 -79.3. SECTION 3. The necessity to execute the aforesaid contract and to appropriate the sums hereinabove set out at the earliest possible date so that construction may commence, creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect `' 10973 and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the / 7--tP—day of July, ATTEST: City 5ecreta APPROVED: �(� yth DAY OF JULY, 1972: #AJ &a�e Cit Attorney_ �'4 1972. 1 � O MAYOR THE CITY 0 RPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS CERTIFICATION OF FUNDS (City Charter Article IV Section 21) July 14 1972 I certify to the City Council that $ 409 644.72 , the amount required for the contract, agreement, obligation or expenditures contemplated in the ' above and foregoing ordinance is in the Treasury of the City of Corpus Christi to the credit of: Fund No. and Name 251 Sanitary Sewer H.U.D.
