HomeMy WebLinkAbout11047 RES - 08/23/1972• JRR:m1:8- 23- 72;1st • A RESOLUTION URGING THAT CITIZENS APPOINTED TO CITY ADVISORY BOARDS BE APPOINTED FOR NO MORE THAN TWO CONSECUTIVE TERMS ON THE SAME BOARD TO ALLOW FOR GREATER CITIZEN PARTICIPATION; PROVIDING ADDITIONAL SERVICE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, many worthy citizens of the City are appointed by the City Council and serve on City Advisory Boards; and WHEREAS, these citizens provide invaluable guidance, advise and knowledge to the City Staff and to the City Council; and WHEREAS, the impact of such citizen participation on City Govern- ment will be greater with more citizen participation: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas go on record as urging that citizens appointed to City Advisory Boards be appointed for no more than two consecutive terms on the same board to allow for greater citizen participation in City Government. Provided, however, that nothing herein shall prevent any individual from being appointed to a different board after two consecutive terms on the same board, or from being appointed to the same board after a break in service of one term after two consecutive terms. SECTION 2.
