HomeMy WebLinkAbout11083 RES - 09/20/1972• JRR:HG:jkh:9- 10- 12;lst .0 A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 10916, PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON JUNE 14, 1972, BY AMENDING SECTION THEREOF SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR NINE MEMBERS ON THE TASK FORCE REPRESENTING INDUSTRY, LABOR, BUSINESS, AND VETERANS ORGANIZATIONS, TO PROMOTE AND TO ENCOURAGE THE HIRING OF VETERANS AND TO COOPERATE WITH THE NATIONAL AND STATE JOBS FOR VETERANS CAMPAIGN; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 10916, passed and approved by the City Council on June 14, 1972, the said City Council expressed the desire to appoint a Jobs for Veterans Task Force to promote and encourage the hiring of veterans and to cooperate with the national and state Jobs for Veterans campaign; and and WHEREAS, said Resolution provided for a seven- member Task Force; WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council to enlarge the said Task Force: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Resolution 10916, passed and approved by the City Council on June 14, 1972 be, and the same is hereby, amended by amending Section 2 to hereafter read as follows: "Section 2. That said Task Force include nine (9) members representing industry, labor, business, and veterans organizations." SECTION 2. Except as herein provided, Resolution 10916 shall be and remain in full force and effect. SECTION 3. The necessity for immediate implementation of this program to promote and encourage the hiring of veterans creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor 111083 having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO RESOLVED, this the day of , 1972.
